It’s sometimes referred to as the ‘silent disease’ because although almost 3 million people in the UK are estimated to have it, few know they have it until they break a bone, most likely in their wrist, hip or spine.

In April 2019, the Minister for Health and Social Services in Wales launched the guidance document ‘Living with Persistent Pain in Wales’.
In December the Chronic Pain Policy Coalition, that’s a UK wide coalition of professional bodies, patient organisations, parliamentarians and industry representatives, brought together some of Wales' leading pain experts, people living with pain, and other key stakeholders at the home of the Welsh Parliament in Cardiff.
